A timeless dish that captures comfort food with savory herbs and hearty bread, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread, cubed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2-3 celery stalks, diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 2-3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onion and celery, sautéing until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, parsley, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Combine the cubed bread with the butter and herb mixture in a large bowl.
  6. Gradually pour in the broth, mixing until the bread is moistened but not soggy.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is crisp and golden brown.
  8. Serve warm as a side dish and enjoy!

Notes

Use day-old bread for the best texture. Feel free to swap herbs for dried. Adding chopped mushrooms or sausage can enhance flavor.
