A heartwarming dish with tender chicken and fluffy dumplings simmered in a rich broth, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup vegetables (such as carrots, peas, or corn)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the shredded chicken and vegetables to the pot, allowing them to simmer.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Pour in the milk and melted butter, stirring until a thick dough forms.
  3. Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the dough into the boiling broth. Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let the dumplings steam for 15-20 minutes until cooked through. They should be fluffy and springy.
  4. Taste the broth and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve the chicken and dumplings hot, garnished with fresh parsley for a lovely touch.

Notes

For best results, use homemade broth for enhanced flavor. Don’t overmix the dumpling dough and ensure a rolling boil before adding dumplings.
