Delightful and fun cake pops perfect for Halloween parties, made with chocolate cake and customizable decorations.

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Candy melts (various colors)
  • Sprinkles or other decorations (e.g., edible eyes, Halloween-themed decorations)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  2. Crumble the cake into a large bowl once completely cool, creating fine crumbs for a smooth texture.
  3. Add the frosting to the crumbled cake and stir until fully combined; the mixture should be moist but firm enough to hold its shape when rolled.
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the cake balls for about 30 minutes, until they are set.
  5. Melt the candy melts according to the package directions. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy and insert it into the center of each cake ball.
  6. Dip each cake pop into the melted candy melts. Tap off any excess coating and decorate with sprinkles or other fun decorations while the candy is still wet.
  7. Place the decorated cake pops upright in a stand or styrofoam block to set completely. Once the candy coating hardens, your spooky treats are ready to enjoy!

Notes

Ensure the cake is thoroughly cooled before crumbling. Experiment with different candy melt colors for unique effects.
