Festive Jalapeño Popper Mummies are a fun and spicy appetizer for Halloween gatherings, combining creamy jalapeño filling wrapped in flaky dough.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • 10 medium-sized jalapeños
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 egg
  • Candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with foil.
  2. Mix the softened cream cheese and shredded pepper jack cheese with a pinch of salt and garlic powder until smooth.
  3. Prepare each jalapeño by cutting them in half lengthwise and removing seeds.
  4. Stuff each jalapeño half generously with the cheese mixture.
  5. Prepare the crescent rolls by pressing together the seams to form rectangles and cut them into strips.
  6. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with a dough strip, leaving a gap for the candy eyes.
  7. Egg wash: whisk the egg and brush it over each wrapped jalapeño.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown, then let them cool slightly.
  9. Add two candy eyes into the gap of each mummy before serving.
  10. Serve immediately or let cool slightly for enhanced flavor.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute crescent rolls with gluten-free dough. Use fresh jalapeños for the best flavor.
