Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Royal icing (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts; mix until smooth.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Shape the dough into balls or cut into ghost shapes.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool the cookies on a wire rack before decorating.
  9. Prepare royal icing by mixing egg whites, powdered sugar, and lemon juice.
  10. Decorate cookies with spooky ghost faces using piping bags.
