A fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween celebrations, featuring colorful designs and delicious flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk (adjust for consistency)
  • Food coloring (various colors for decorating)
  • Assorted candies (eyeballs, gummy worms, chocolate chips)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional for extra decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly. Then, incorporate the eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Beat until smooth.
  3. Fill the Cupcake Liners: Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners and pour the batter evenly into each liner, filling them two-thirds full.
  4. Bake the Cupcakes: Bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  5. Make the Frosting: Beat the softened butter until creamy, gradually adding powdered sugar. Mix in vanilla and enough milk for a spreadable consistency. Color as desired.
  6. Frost the Cupcakes: Once cool, pipe or spread frosting on each cupcake creatively.
  7. Decorate with Candies: Use assorted candies to create monster faces on top of the frosting.
