Ingredients
1 box chocolate cupcake mix (plus ingredients as per mix instructions: eggs, water, oil)
1 cup strawberries, chopped
1/2 cup strawberry jam or puree
White frosting
Red food coloring
Chocolate chips or slivers (for fangs)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the cupcake mix box. Prepare the chocolate cupcake mix according to the package instructions, combining the mix with any required eggs, water, and oil.
Fill your cupcake liners with the batter, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake according to the package instructions, typically 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, carefully cut a small hole in the center of each cupcake using a small knife.
Spoon the chopped strawberries and a dollop of strawberry jam or puree into each hole, filling generously.
Using the white frosting, generously frost the top of each cupcake, creating a smooth, even layer on each one.
Mix a few drops of red food coloring into the white frosting until you achieve the desired shade of red, then carefully drizzle or spread this red frosting around the edges of the white frosting.
Add chocolate chips or slivers to the top of each frosted cupcake to represent fangs, placing them pointy side out for the most dramatic effect.
Serve and enjoy your Halloween Vampire Bite Cupcakes with a Gory Surprise at your Halloween festivities!
Notes
Ensure cupcakes are fully cooled before frosting. Store frosted cupcakes in the refrigerator for freshness.
