A creamy soup that serves as a versatile base for casseroles and stews, or enjoyed on its own.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons salted butter
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock or broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Add the flour into the melted butter and whisk together until you form a roux.
  3. Pour in the chicken stock and milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Stir in the garlic salt and mix well.
  5. Raise the heat slightly and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, cooking for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat when it thickens to your desired consistency.

Notes

Whisk constantly to avoid lumps. Adjust consistency by adding more broth for a thinner soup.
