Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ΒΌ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 Β½ cups warm water (110Β°F-115Β°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Additional flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix briefly to distribute the salt evenly.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl with the flour and add olive oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Alternatively, use a mixer for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. First rise: Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven: Preheat to 475Β°F (245Β°C) with a pizza stone inside if available.
  7. Shape the dough: After rising, punch it down and divide into two. Shape each into a round about 12 inches in diameter.
  8. Add toppings and bake: Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 10-15 minutes.

Notes

For best results, ensure yeast is fresh and knead thoroughly to achieve a chewy crust.
