  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup brown gravy
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (such as parsley or thyme), chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Brown the meatballs on all sides in a skillet over medium heat, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish.
  6. Make the gravy by whisking together the beef broth and brown gravy in the same skillet.
  7. Pour the gravy mixture over the meatballs in the baking dish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until cooked through.
  9. Prepare the mashed potatoes by boiling the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  10. Mash the drained potatoes with milk, butter, and chopped herbs until smooth and creamy.
  11. Serve the mashed potatoes topped with meatballs and gravy.

Notes

For creamier potatoes, use room temperature milk and butter. Avoid overmixing meatball ingredients.
