A flavorful slow cooker chicken dish coated in a sweet and savory honey soy sauce, perfect for busy evenings and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 Tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1.5 kg (3.3 lb) chicken drumsticks
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In your slow cooker, mix together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil until well combined.
  2. Add chicken: Place the chicken drumsticks in the slow cooker. Make sure to baste them in the sauce so they are well coated.
  3. Slow cook: Cover your slow cooker and set it to cook on low heat for about 6 to 8 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  4. Remove chicken: Once cooked, carefully take the chicken out of the slow cooker and set it aside on a plate.
  5. Thicken the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water until it forms a smooth paste. Add this mixture to the slow cooker and stir well.
  6. Combine and finish cooking: Return the chicken to the slow cooker and mix it back into the thickening sauce. Cook on high for an additional 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  7. Caramelize (optional): For extra flavor, baste the chicken with the sauce and place it under a grill for a few minutes to caramelize the top before serving.
  8. Serve & enjoy: Plate your delicious slow cooker honey soy chicken and enjoy it with your desired side dishes.

Notes

For different flavor profiles, substitute honey with maple syrup or use boneless chicken thighs. Ensure to use fresh ingredients for better taste.
