A fun and whimsical twist on classic spaghetti and meatballs, perfect for Halloween or themed family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese (cut into small rounds)
  • Black olives (sliced, for pupils)

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  3. Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, heat the marinara sauce until bubbling. Add the meatballs to the sauce and cook, covered, for about 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
  5. Once the meatballs are cooked, remove the skillet from heat. Place a small round of mozzarella cheese on top of each meatball and add a slice of black olive to create the pupil.
  6. Serve the ‘eyeballs’ over a bed of spaghetti, drizzling extra marinara sauce on top for added flavor.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Consider adjusting the meat size for children.
