A whimsical chocolate cake perfect for Halloween gatherings, decorated with gummy worms and candy eyes for a spooky effect.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups rich chocolate sponge cake mix
  • ½ cup dark cocoa powder
  • Gummy worms (for decoration)
  • Candy eyes (for decoration)
  • Assorted candies for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the cake mix and dark cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add water and mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  4. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Decorate the top with dusted cocoa powder, gummy worms, and candy eyes.
  7. Fill one cake with assorted candy pieces, then place the other cake on top.

Notes

For lighter texture, substitute part of the cake mix with all-purpose flour. Sift cocoa powder to prevent lumps.
